Arteast & Guild 240 are hosting a big explosion of colours and storytelling. Young artists are invited to come create bright and bold artworks to be included in their First Salon des Refusés* at Galerie 240.
*The Salon des Refuses, French for “exhibition of rejects” is generally an exhibition of works rejected by the jury of the official Paris Salon but the term is most famously used to refer to the Salon des Refuses of 1863 when the Salon jury rejected more than 3,000 works.
Arteast is a highly active not-for-profit visual arts organization in Eastern Ontario. Our aims are: provide an organization through which members may develop their abilities and interests in the visual arts, foster the growth of visual arts, and contribute to the cultural development in Ottawa and surrounding regions.
Guild 240 aims to increase the visibility of artists living in and visiting the National Capital Region through events and presentations that draw on their talents, their networks, and their creations in a mutually supported environment. Through Guild 240, the Galerie opens its doors to concerts, exhibits, weddings, wakes, children’s/adults’ parties, birthdays, performance art spectacles, readings, plays, workshops, talks, auctions, product launches, wine and food tastings, and fashion events.
Members of Guild 240 also offer consults in their area of specialty.
