The installation by six artists (#5 will blow your mind!) is an experiment in which we lose control of our own works in the process of making them, just like on the internet, grafting realities through virtual space, and transcending physical nature.
We are a group of recent University of Ottawa Visual Arts graduates, consisting of Zainab Hussain, Shelby Lisk, Jessie Raymond, Stephanie Marton, Adrienne Matheuszik and Anna Paluch. Zainab works primarily with photography but also installation, incorporating other mediums. Her work combines the technical with the organic, and explores tradition through modern techniques. Shelby explores identity as social construct, based on visible indicators, working mostly with analogue photography, emphasizing the idea of a process of revealing an image through developing. Jessie works primarily with photography and video, as well as experimenting with scanners, playing with the idea of full contact with the object. Stephanie works with photography, video recordings and installation. Adrienne’s work revolves around religious iconography mixed with nostalgic materials, creating video projections that are interactive with kinetic sculptures. Anna’s works incorporate embroidery and paper-mache.
