FAQ

1.      When is the event?

Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau is on September 20 at 6:20pm, running until September 21, 4:21am.

2.      Where is the event taking place?

Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau will take place in the downtown area of the ByWard Market, Arts Court, Gatineau, Wellington West and Hintonburg.

3.      Does Nuit Blanche fund projects if an Artist requires financial aid?

All participants are encouraged to find their own means of financial aid. Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau recommends Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Awesome Ottawa, and Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, who have previously helped Artists that we have worked with. Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau reserves the right to, at a later date should funding be available, financially assist selected projects.

4.      Is the event 19+ or family friendly?

Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau is a family friendly event that is attended by a diverse public. All projects and activities during Nuit Blanche will comply with this criterion.

5.  Who is responsible for the space once the project is installed?

The Artist is responsible for their own space, and should follow Nuit Blanche’s ‘Leave-No-Trace’ policy. This means that all work is installed with little to no permanent change to the architecture and urban setting. It is the responsibility of the Artist to remove all materials and litter related to each project at the end of the event. The public is also encouraged to abide by this policy. The physical transformations that the city undergoes during the Nuit Blanche should bare no trace the following morning. The Artist is responsible for installing and removing their project in accordance with this policy.

6. How can I get involved, if I’m not an artist?

If you would like to get involved, we are accepting volunteers to help out before, during and after the event! To fill out the registration form, just click on Take Part! and scroll down.

7. When will artists be notified if they have been selected?

The official list of participating artists will be available around July 5th.
