These live performances will be a collection of dance works that have been amalgamated to illustrate both the unification of different dance forms, as well as the point at which they diverge to form separate and unique creations.
In my early years of Ballet training, I was encouraged to compliment my studies with Modern and Jazz dance techniques. After developing a taste for movement, I decided that I wanted more. I opened up my world to a diverse multitude of dance forms including Flamenco, Salsa, Hip Hop, Tap, and even traditional dances from Africa, Ukraine, and The Philippines. This also introduced opportunities to practice different branches of movement exploration, including Composition and Contact Improvisation. While my roots remained in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern, my vocabulary began to expand. A realization of similarities began to grow. Common ideas such as use of weight, suspension and release all meshed into each dance form and thus my work developed. It is my goal to depict some of these forms in their original state and also to demonstrate the result that occurs when one meets the other (s). I would like to share my exploration in watching movement evolve through the crossroads where they meet.
