Location: ByWard zone
Description: Cry Babies is a collection of portraits highlighting the complexities of childhood. Inspired by locket photography, it depicts an irreconcilable reality in which private anxieties and idealized imagery of popular culture inhabit the same space.
Established in May 1977, Galerie St-Laurent + Hill began with the introduction to the National Capital Region of Québec-based female artists. The mandate quickly expanded to represent and promote contemporary Canadian art and artists exclusively. The gallery’s first exhibition space was in Wakefield, Québec, moving to Ottawa’s historic Byward Market soon thereafter. In addition to representing established artists, the gallery is actively involved in the career development of emerging artists.
